Dear Media Friends of the Arts:

Please use the attached material at your earliest convenience. Thanks
very much for your help. Sally Smith

>>The offbeat is the norm, the outrageous becomes merely unique, and the
bizarre is celebrated at Cambria’s annual 927/924 Show, which this year
will titillate art fanciers’ tastes from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday,
July 10, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 11. The Cambria Veterans
Memorial Building at 1000 Main St. will be the venue for the event.

More formally billed as a forum presenting varied styles and content of
local artists working outside the common boundaries of tradition, this
sixteenth version promises to be a jamboree of creativity expressed in a
variety of media and subject matter.

Cash prizes of $100, $75, and $50, as well as a variety of merchandise
from local merchants will be awarded during a reception for the
displaying artists from 7 to 9 p.m. on the show’s opening day. Previous
winners include a giant wooden cactus, life-size papier maché figures,
and kinetic art.

Admission to the show for spectators is $3. Artists pay $10 per entry to
participate and will bring in their creations on July 9. Profits from
the show will follow the tradition set several years ago by the artists
and will be donated to the Cambria Community Center, formerly the
Cambria Youth Center.

Eligibility for showing at this event is limited to persons with a 927
or 924 telephone number prefix or membership in the Association. Entry
forms are available at the Schoolhouse Gallery in Cambria, which may be
contacted by calling 927-8190. Chairman for the show is Art Van Rhyn
with Dorothy Prychoda assisting. >>
