The National Fire Sprinkler Association wants to remind all of us that more fires happen in winter than any other time of the year. They’d like you to keep fireplaces and heater clear, replace the batteries in your smoke detectors and have a fire escape plane. Now, on with the show.

If you happening to listen to the conversation I had with Tammy Rudock from the CCSD you’ll know that she was excited about the upcoming Brown Bag it with Tammy series. Well, she has the dates and here they are. Monday March 3, Tuesday March 11 and Monday March 17. All dates are from noon until 2pm at the CCSD Administration Offices located at 1316 Tamson Drive, suite 204. This is your chance to join CCSD general manager Tammy Rudock for candid conversation and discussion about CCSD organizational issues during lunchtime.

If you are interested in the art that is our natural landscapes and scenery Top Dog Coffee Bar of Morro Bay invites you to their showing of Abe Perlstein’s photographic work. The show is called point and shoot and will run through the end of March.

One of our Cambrian locals, Abel Martinez is running in this years Boston Marathon and is raising money for Habitat for Humanity. A fun Mexican themed benefit will be held at El CHorlito Restaurant in San Simeon on Sunday March 2nd. Tickets are twenty five dollars at the door. If you would prefer to skip the buffet and head right to the contribution to Habitat for Humanity please phone 927-4847 and they’ll let you know where to send your check.

The Cambria Women’s Connection invites all women to their monthly luncheon and program in the Fellow ship Hall of the Cambria Presbyterian Church on Wesnesday, March 12th. Carolyn Novak with the Red Cross of San Luis will be the featured speaker. Inspirational speaker is Corkie Swalm. For reservations and more information please phone Doreen at 927-1858.

The 13th annual central coast orchid show and sale takes place on March 8 and 9. The even takes place at 800 West Branch in Arroyo Grande.

The Friends of the Cambria Library would like to invite us to their two day book sale. It will be held at the Bets Hall on Friday and Saturday, March 14th and 15th. Saturday is their famous two dollar a shopping bag sale. Bags are provided. Event hours are Friday 4pm to 630pm, Saturday 9am until 2pm with the book bag sale beginning at 1230 on Saturday

On Saturday March 29 the St. Benedict’s Episcopal church in Los Osos is welcoming you to enjoy a benefit concert featuring the marvelous mezzo soprano Marcela Pan. Donations of twenty dollars will be accepted at the door. Please phone 534-1514 for more details.

Also on March 29 the Pacific Dance center invites you to their carnival, rummage sale and dance show. This sounds like quite an eclectic mix doesn’t it? This event takes place at 7am and lasts until 1130am. If you would like to help them raise money, play games find treasures and enjoy good food and a fun dance show go to 698 Morro Bay Blvd March 29th.
